A calm, safe space to understand yourself and move forward

I offer online counselling for adults anywhere in the UK: a calm, secure and safe space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Together we build your self-awareness and give you the tools you need to move forward in a more confident, healthy and happier way.

Lisa, counsellor and psychotherapist, smiling

Hello, I’m Lisa

Counsellor and psychotherapist

I’ve been through many different life experiences, from living with anxiety to losing my dad, and they opened my eyes to the impact of talking therapy. CBT in particular changed my life. I want to help others in the same way I was helped.

A ‘Lis’ of Life is a play on my name, and on my hope that this service gives you a new lease of life.

I have three years’ experience working with clients face to face and online. I’m trained in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), person-centred therapy and psychodynamic therapy. CBT is where most of my experience and interest lies, and I draw on all three to shape our work around you.

How I can help

I work with adults facing a wide range of difficulties, including:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Grief, loss and bereavement
  • Miscarriage and child loss
  • Relationship breakdown
  • Coping with illness
  • Work and life stress
  • Abuse of any kind
  • Victim support

I work one to one with adults aged 18 and over. I don’t offer couples or family sessions.

There are some areas I don’t work with, including severe trauma, adoption and conditions such as schizophrenia. If you’re unsure whether I’m the right fit, we can talk it through in your free consultation, and if I’m not, I’ll help you find someone who is.

My approach

No two people are the same, so I don’t use a one-size-fits-all method.

My specialism

Cognitive behavioural therapy

CBT looks at how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours affect one another. We notice the patterns that keep you stuck and practise practical, everyday tools to change them.

You lead the way

Person-centred therapy

You are the expert on your own life. I offer warmth, honesty and acceptance so you can explore what matters to you and find your own answers.

Understanding the roots

Psychodynamic therapy

Sometimes the past shapes the present in ways we can’t see. We gently explore how earlier experiences and relationships may be affecting how you feel today.

Questions people often ask

How does online counselling work?

We meet by secure video call on Zoom or Microsoft Teams, so you can join from home or anywhere private where you feel comfortable. All you need is a phone, tablet or computer with a camera and a reliable internet connection.

Who do you work with?

Adults aged 18 and over, one to one, anywhere in the UK. I don’t offer couples or family sessions, and I can’t work with clients living outside the UK.

What happens in the free consultation?

It’s a relaxed 20-minute chat by phone or video call. You can tell me a little about what’s brought you to counselling and ask any questions, and we’ll decide together whether working with me feels right.

How much does it cost, and how do I pay?

Sessions are £60, paid by bank transfer. Your first 20-minute consultation is free.

How long is a session?

Each session is a clinical hour, which is 50 minutes.

How many sessions will I need?

As many as you need. We review how things are going together every six sessions, so you always have a say in what happens next.

What if I need to cancel?

Please give at least 24 hours’ notice. Sessions cancelled with less notice are charged.

Is counselling confidential?

Yes. What you share stays between us, with a small number of exceptions, such as a serious risk of harm to you or someone else. I’ll explain these clearly before we start.

When can I start?
